About Ariel

Ariel Castillo is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans digital illustration, character design, photography, graphic design, and videography. Moving across media, they use the fantastical as a way to break through the monotony of everyday life and invite the audience into imaginative universes of color and story.

In their illustrations and character designs, vibrant palettes connect the whimsical and unknown to audiences in ways that feel both familiar and otherworldly. Through photography and videography, Ariel turns attention to the overlooked details of lived experience, capturing moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed. With careful editing and a touch of visual magic, these works attempt to transform reality into reflections infused with wonder. In “The Third Mind Foundation” (2024), Ariel implements fantastical monsters that stalk a late-night driver, seamlessly integrating drawn illustration and liminal photography together.

They draw inspiration from many artists like Dana Terrace, Anastasia Samoylova, and Alexander Mahboubi. Currently, Ariel is in the process of developing their first graphic novel, a new entry into the worlds they have built across media.
